New Climate Minister Katie White has said she believes Britain can lead the way on tackling the climate crisis.
Labour MP White was appointed to the role as part of the Prime Minister’s reshuffle last week, replacing Kerry McCarthy.
Before entering politics, White co-led the campaign at Friends of the Earth that delivered the UK’s pioneering Climate Change Act in 2008, the first law in the world to set a legally binding, long-term framework for cutting carbon emissions.
She also worked with the UK Government to prepare for the COP15 conference and served in the former Department of Energy and Climate Change.
White said she was “hopeful that Britain can lead the way on tackling the climate crisis”.
